SNOW TAXI

20 years ago I scored a snowboarding documentary called Snow Taxi directed by Gene Wilder’s nephew Jordan Walker-Pearlman. It was the 4th film I ever scored and I recently came across some of the music. I’m usually reluctant to share older stuff like this because the technology has improved so much over the years but sometimes it’s worth looking back to see where you’ve come from.

If I remember correctly I did the whole thing on nothing but a JV-1080 and recorded a live soprano for the second piece below. I remember thinking that the $800 I made on the film was the first “real” money I had seen as a composer and was genuinely surprised when they offered it to me. The production is pretty dated at this point but I’m still fond of the music which was inspired by the beautiful and dramatic snowboarding montages in the film.
